GURU AND THE SEEKER

Maha Guru Pooja is being celebrated at Sri Vishwasirasini Bala peedam from 14-16th December 2012. Sri Balarishi elaborates on the compassion of a  Guru towards the seeker. This is a translation of an excerpt from Sri Balarishi's recent book "Siddhargal Arulum Sivaanandam"

 Dear BALARISHI,

Will a Guru have to put in more effort while dealing with the identity of a seeker?

It depends upon the maturity level of the seeker. Some fruits will fall even in gentle breeze. Whereas to pluck some fruits you might need to shake the whole tree. Some will be open enough to accept their Guru. For some, their Guru might have to point out their limitations or binding qualities. For some the Guru might need to give certain experiences so as to bring down their "I"dentity. All these  depends on the maturity level of the seeker.

If people have some spiritual connections in their earlier birth, Handling them will be an easy task for the Guru. Many think a Guru will do away the pains which life provides. Removing  away your pains is not the job of the Guru. Your Guru is here to give you the maturity and clarity to understand life through your pains.

Those who have done Annadhaana and service to monks in earlier birth, will find their guru in their next birth. Some of them would have met their Guru by chance but wont even realize they have found a Guru. They will have confusions about the spiritual process given to them. They would wonder if it would work for them. They might even doubt their Guru. Channelizing such people might be a laborious job for the Guru.
