அனைத்து  சாதுக்களும்  முனிவர்களும்  கும்பமேளாவில்  கலந்து கொள்வதில்  மிகவும்  முனைப்புடன்  இருக்கிறார்கள். கும்பமேளா

சாதுக்களுக்கான  விழாவா ? ஒரு சராசரி மனிதனைப் பொறுத்தவரை  கும்பமேளாவுக்கான முக்கியத்துவம் என்ன ?

       ஆன்மீகத்தில் நாட்டமுள்ள ஒவ்வொருவருக்குமே  கும்பமேளா  மிகவும்

முக்கியமான வைபவம்.நமது தேசத்தின் நான்கு பகுதிகளில் வெவ்வேறு காலகட்டங்களில், சில துல்லியமான கணக்குகளின் அடிப்படையில் கும்பமேளா நடத்தப்படுகிறது.

         புனிதம்    மிக்க   நதிகளின்    கரைகளில்     கும்பமேளாக்கள்  நிகழ்கின்றன.

ஹரித்துவாரில் கங்கைக்கரையிலும், நாஸிக்கில் கோதாவரிக்கரையிலும், உஜ்ஜையினியில் ஷிப்ரா நதிக்கரையிலும் அலகாபாத்தில் கங்கை-யமுனை-சரஸ்வதி சங்கமமாகும் திரிவேணி நதிக்கரையிலும் கும்பமேளாக்கள் நடைபெறுகின்றன.

       தேவர்களும் அசுரர்களும் இணைந்து பாற்கடலைக் கடைந்தபோது திரண்ட அமுதத்தை எடுத்துக் கொண்டு அசுரர்கள் ஓடிவிட தேவர்கள் அவர்களைத்   துரத்திக் கொண்டு பன்னிரண்டு பகல்களும் பன்னிரண்டு இரவுகளும்  ஓடினார்களாம். அப்போது   நான்கு   இடங்களில் அமுதம் சிந்தியதாகவும் அந்த நான்கு இடங்களில்தான் தற்போது கும்பமேளா கொண்டாடப்படுவதாகவும் கூறப்படுகிறது. கும்பமேளா நடக்கும் நாட்களில் அமுதம் இந்தப் புனித நதிகளில் கலப்பதாகவும் ஐதீகம்.

       கும்பமேளாவின் மிக முக்கிய நிகழ்வு, நாகசாதுக்கள் ஊர்வலமாக வந்து

நதிகளில் புனிதநீராடுவதாகும். பல்வேறு மார்க்கங்களையும் தந்திர நெறிகளையும் ஆன்மீக வழிமுறைகளையும் பின்பற்றும் இந்த சாதுக்கள் புனித நீராடுகையில் தங்கள் தவத்தின் பயனை புனித நதிகளுக்கு அர்ப்பணிக்கிறார்கள். ஏற்கெனவே புனிதம் மிக்க இந்த நதிகளில் சாதுக்களின் தவபலனும் சங்கமிக்கும்போது அவை மேலும் புனிதமும் சக்தியும் மிக்கவையாகத் திகழ்கின்றன. அதனால்தான் சாதுக்கள் ஸ்நானம் செய்தவுடன் இந்நதிகள்ளில் நீராடுவது முக்கியமாகக் கருதப்படுகிறது. கும்பமேளாவின்போது குறிப்பிட்ட நாட்களில்தான் சாது ஸ்நானங்கள் நடைபெறுகின்றன. இத்தகைய புனிதயயத்திரைகளையும் புனித நீராடுதல்களையும் மேற்கொள்வதால் ஆத்மசாதகனின் கர்மவினை மூலமாய் இருக்கும் தடைகள் அகன்று உள்நிலைத்தூய்மை ஏற்படுவதோடு,வாழ்விலும் சில முக்கியத் திருப்புமுனைகள் நிகழ்கின்றன.

        கும்பமேளாவில் பல வகைகள் உண்டு. அர்த்த கும்பமேளா, பூர்ண கும்பமேளா, மஹா கும்ப மேளா, மஹா மேளா என்னும் பலவகைப்பட்ட

கும்பமேளாக்களில் தற்போது அலகாபாத்தில் நடைபெற்றுக் கொண்டிருப்பது மஹா கும்பமேளா ஆகும்.

KUMBH MELA - FOR EVERY ONE

All saints and sadhus make it a point to attend Kumbh mela. Is it meant mainly for saadhus? What is the the importance of Kumbh mela for a common man?

Kumbh Mela is a very important event for anyone who has some interest in spirituality. Kumbh mela happens in four places at different periods , based on subtle calculations. All these four places are banks of holy rivers. The places are Haridwar (bank of river ganga), Nashik,( bank of river Godhavari), Ujaini (bank of river kshipra) and Allahabad (the union spot of Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswathi). It is said that when Devas and Asuras churned Amirtha from the ocean of milk , the Asuras ran away with Amrutha and Devas chased them for twelve days and twelve nights. During this chase Amirtha is said to have spilled in these four places.

The Amritha is said to merge in these holy rivers during Kumbh Mela.

In Kumbh mela the important event is all the Naaga Saadhus coming in procession for their holy dip. This is very important because in spirituality, the galaxy of these Saadhus representing various tantra traditions and spiritual orders is something very rare. By taking a holy dip these saadhus offer the essence of their penance to the holy river.These rivers which are holy by their own nature becomes holier as they carry the powerful energies of these Saadhus. This is why it is considered to be very auspicious to take a dip immediately after the Snaanam of the Saadhus. This procession happens only on prescribed days for Snanam.

By taking this holy dip the karmic obstacles for a Sadhaka vanishes and his life is cleansed to a great level. Important turning points in the path of life happens after such spiritual sojourns for a saadhaka. There are various classifications in Kumbh Mela like Ardha Kumbh Mela, Poorna Kumbh Mela, Maha kumbh mela and Maha Mela.

The kumbh mela which is happening now in Allahabad is Maha kumbh Mela.

GANGES: PURITY AND POLLUTION

Ganges is  considered to be  holy river.But in recent days the river is polluted in so many ways . How would you define the purity of Ganges?

The spiritual energy of Ganges and its sangalpa are intact. Even if a small water spring from a mountain emerges,it will be pure and divine by its own merit as it passes through many rare herbs .The Ganges flows though the Himalayas and forests. beholds the quality of many herbs, the blessings of many Siddhas and saints and by own Ganges is a divine entity.

The pollution in Ganges happens in few areas of its journey and up to places like Rishikesh and Haridwar it  is so pure and crystal clear. There are some people  who are indifferent to nature and they fail to treat nature with due respect either due to their ignorance or selfishness. So Ganges seems to be polluted.Since many happen to be near Ganges, they take this holy river for granted. But highest tolerance prevails in nature and nature based divinity. But people still throng for a holy dip in  the Ganga throughout its path and they feel its divinity in so many ways. They are not only benefited but they also do not claim any ill effects even if Ganges is seen as a water body. Corpses float in it.Man discharges are floating in it. Still the pilgrims are not affected by it.

So the divinity of the Ganges is there for sure beyond all external pollution happening. It is also important to realize that there is a stage beyond tolerance and people raise up to refrain from polluting any elements of nature.

கங்கை மிகவும் புனிதமான நதியாக நம் மரபில் கருதப்படுகிறது. ஆனால் சமீபகாலமாக பலவகைகளிலும் மாசடைந்துவருகிறது.இந்நிலையில் கங்கையின் புனிதத்தை தாங்கள் எவ்விதமாக வரையறை செய்கிறீர்கள்?

      கங்கையின் தெய்வீக சக்தியும் அதன் சங்கல்பமும் அதே தீவிரத்துடன்தான் உள்ளது.சிறிய மலையொன்றில் தோன்றும் சுனைகூட பல அரிய மூலிகைகளைத் தொட்டுக் கலந்து வருவதால் தூய்மையானதாகவும் தெய்வீகம் மிக்கதாகவே திகழும். கங்கை இமயமலையையும் பல வனங்களையும் கடந்து வருகிறது. அதில் பல மூலிகைகளின் அம்சங்களும், பல சித்தர்கள் மற்றும் முனிவர்களின் ஆசிகளும் நிறைந்துள்ளன. இவற்றையெல்லாம் தாண்டி கங்கைதன் இயல்பிலேயே தெய்வீகம் மிக்கது.

    கங்கை நடக்கிற பாதையில் சில இடங்களில் கடுமையாக மாசடைந்துள்ளது. ஆனால் ரிஷிகேஷ் ஹரித்துவார்  வரையிலும் மிகவும் தூய்மையாகவும் தெளிவாகவும் உள்ளது. சில மனிதர்கள் இயற்கையிடம் நடந்து கொள்ளும் முறை மிகவும் விசித்திரமானது. அறியாமை காரணமாகவோ அல்லது தங்கள் சுயநலம் காரணமாகவோ இயற்கைக்கு உரிய மரியாதையைத் தரத் தவறிவிடுகிறார்கள். எனவே கங்கை சில இடங்களில் மாசடைந்துள்ளது. கங்கைக்கு அருகிலேயே வசிக்க நேர்வதும் வாழ நேர்வதும் ஒரு வரம் என்ற புரிதல் இல்லாவிட்டால் கங்கையை எப்படி வேண்டுமானாலும் கையாளலாம் என்னும் அலட்சியப்போக்கு சிலருக்குத் தோன்றலாம். இருப்பதிலேயே அதிகபட்ச சகிப்புணர்வு இயற்கைக்கும் இயற்கை சார்ந்த தெய்வீகத்திற்கும் தான் உள்ளது.

  கங்கையில் மூழ்க வேண்டும் என்ற விருப்பத்துடன் பல்லாயிரக்கணக்கானோர் தேடி வருகின்றனர். அவர்கள் அதனால் பயனடைவது மட்டுமின்றி ஒரு நீர்நிலையாக மட்டுமே கங்கையைக் கண்டு அதில் தலைமுழுகுபவர்கள் கூட எவ்வித பாதிப்புக்கும் ஆளானதில்லை. அதில் பிணங்கள் மிதக்கின்றன. கழிவுகள் மிதக்கின்றன. இந்த  வெளிநிலை மாசுகளைக் கடந்து கங்கையின் புனிதமும் தெய்வீகமும் நிலையாக உள்ளது.எனினும் இயற்கையின் சகிப்புணர்வுக்கும் ஓர் எல்லை உண்டு என்பதை மனிதர்கள் உணர்ந்து இயற்கையின் எந்த அம்சத்தையும் மாசுபடுத்தக்கூடாது என்ற விழிப்புணர்வைப்  பெறுவது அவசியம்.

ESCAPISM AND SPIRITUALITY

Dear Balarishi,

In last week`s discussion you said escapism in spirituality is something different and you would elaborate on this. Can you throw some light on this?
There are some people who use spirituality to hide their inabilities. If they lack confidence or talent, they claim to be spiritual so that they need not take up responsibilities of their own lives. Such people get exposed soon and they fail themselves in many ways. They   are miserable and also spread misery. Such people might have some temporary satisfaction of impressing few ignorant minds.

On the other hand there are some people who are loving and selfless by their own nature. They cannot confine themselves to smaller limits. Their vision and love is universal in nature and they cannot strive for petty needs like day to day life. Such people refrain from worldly life and live for bigger reasons. They are not escapists. In fact, they stand up for a greater cause and face the realities of life.

So if someone is escaping from world to hide their own inabilities that is escapism. On the other hand, if someone discovers a bigger purpose in life and opts to stay away from petty  commitments, this should not be mistaken to be escapism.

ஆன்மீகத்தில் தப்பித்தல் மனோபாவம் பற்றி பின்னர் விளக்குவதாக கடந்த வாரம் குறிப்பிட்டிருந்தீர்கள். அதுகுறித்து இந்தவாரம் பேசுவோமா ?

  சிலர் தங்கள் இயலாமையை மறைக்க ஆன்மீகத்தைப் பயன்படுத்துவதுண்டு. யாருக்கு தங்கள் மீதோ தங்கள் திறமைகள் மீதோ நம்பிக்கையில்லையோ அவர்கள் தங்கள் பொறுப்புகளைத் தட்டிக் கழிப்பதற்காகவே தாங்கள் ஆன்மீகத்தில் இருப்பதாகவும் லௌகீகக் கடமைகளைக் கடந்து விட்டதாகவும் வேடம் போடுவார்கள். அவர்களின் நோக்கங்கள் விரைவில் வெளிப்பட்டுவிடும். அவர்கள் தாங்களும் துன்பப்படுவதோடு பிறருக்கும் துன்பத்தையே தருவார்கள். மூடத்தனத்தில் ஆழ்ந்திருக்கும் சிலரை நம்ப வைத்ததாய் அவர்களால் தற்காலிக சந்தோஷத்தை மட்டுமே பெற முடியும்.

அதேநேரம் சிலர் அன்புமயமானவர்களாகவும் சற்றும் சுயநலமில்லாதவர்களாகவும் இருப்பார்கள். அது அவர்களின் சுபாவமாகவே இருக்கும். அவர்களால் சிறிய எல்லைகளுக்குள் தங்களைக் குறுக்கிக் கொண்டு உலகத் தேவைகளுக்குப் போராட முடியாது. உலகளாவிய பார்வையும் பரிவும் கொண்ட அத்தகைய மனிதர்கள் சராசரி லௌகீக வாழ்விலிருந்து விலகிநின்று மகத்தான விஷயங்களுக்குத் தங்களையே அர்ப்பணித்துக் கொள்வார்கள். இவர்கள் தப்பித்தல் மனோபாவம் கொண்டவர்கள் அல்லர்.

SPIRITUALITY AND SUCCESS

Dear Balarishi,

      There is an allegation that whoever is not competent enough to survive in this materialistic world use spirituality as a mode of escapism. How do you see this?

Spirituality is a path for higher things in life. It is unfortunate that, many think spirituality is just a tool to see that their prayers come true or a way to attain certain siddhis. They seldom realize that spirituality is a path and tool for greater aspirations and clarity.    

  In materialistic life, there are people with a spiritual insight and there are people who have only materialistic outlook. Those who are with a spiritual insight are clear about what they do and they take firm decisions. But many people who have only a materialistic outlook, often take the wrong path. They feel so insecure that they opt for any crooked means to win a deal. They see jealousy, vengeance and anxiety as the part of the game and succumb to their own limitations. They cannot take even a small setback and it's unfortunate that they assume these to be the normal traits in running their business successfully.

Such people cannot understand the calm and composed manner of the people with spiritual insight. They have no idea how someone can handle failures with calmness and clarity. So they misconceive that people with spiritual insight are not competent enough. The fact is spirituality gives people the strength to stay away from negative feelings like jealousy or vengeance. They have the right attitude towards their business and progress patiently in whatever they do. They succeed with full satisfaction. So whoever has spirituality as their tool can always exhibit balance in their thoughts and emotions .Escapism is something totally different. We shall discuss about this later.
