HOW TO HANDLE SIDDHIS ?

Dear Balarishi,
In the path of yoga and meditation it is said certain siddhis are attained.Should the siddhis be given the main  focus? Will the siddhis be helpful to attain Moksha ?

If you are going in the spiritual path you have undertaken a journey towards a particular direction. There will be some road signs and indications which would indicate that you are going in the right path.Siddhis are such indicators in the spiritual path. When you cross certain stages in your spiritual journey you will naturally get some siddhis. This is a very vcast subject.I call it to be a vast subject because it has to be understood in different dimensions.

Some undertake spiritual practises so as to attain certain materialistic goals. Some need wealth, some need well being, some look for peace and they undertake certain spiritual practises. When they do their saadhanas
properly, they are being blessed and this blessing manifests as certain siddhis. This is a gross level perception of siddhis and i say this just for your understanding.

But for a spiritual seeker, all the saadhanas are aiming towards spiritual goals. There are no aspirations for him in materialistic life.He wishes to become one with the Universe or his Ishta Devatha. In this seeking as he
crosses a particular stage certain siddhis are bestowed on him. Some will get intiution poer. Some will attain
Vaak Siddhi and whatever they tell will become true. Some will have no need for food. From siddhis of this primary level the seeker can go to the level of attaining Ashtamaa Siddhis.

When one person is more into materialistic life, these siddhis may look colourful and interesting. But if a person with a spiritual quest induldges much into siddhis his focus might change. When miracles happen around him all will celebrate the person and he too might assume that he is God.His concentration might be diverted towards worldly life again. His purpose of saadhanas might get diluted and he might miss the whole journey.

Apart from this the siddhis might do some good to the person who has attained them and also to those around him. For instance If a person with sidhis can use it as selfless instrument for the welfare of the society it would bring positive changes.

Siddhis can be attained by any serious spiritual practise. It can be attained through kriya, through Bhakthi, through Thapas through manthra yoga or any kind of intense worship towards a particular deity. But
the purpose of starting any kind of practice should not be mislead by siddhis. A seeker should raise beyond the siddhis to attain blissful state or become complete with the divine. This is the main purpose of any saadhana and siddhis are just milestones in that journey !
