IS CALAMITY A CURSE?

 

Dear Balarishi,
The disaster which has happened in Uttarkand  has caused concerned all over the world. People who went there were staunch believers of God. Now many question why such a tragic end happened to them. May we have your views on this? 

Going to sacred places like Himalayas and Kedar was once considered to be a pilgrimage and demanded much commitment. Now, it has been reduced to a picnic spot as infra structure and transport facilities have been increased. The disaster which happened in Uttarkand has two different perspectives. One is based on nature. The other is based on spirituality. When some people neglect the demands and purity of nature and tries to manipulate things to their own convenience, are just fooling themselves. The happening in Uttarkand reveals this fact.

On one side people question why this has happened to devotees who went on a pilgrimage. On the other hand some claim that they were supposed to be there during that time but somehow cancelled the pilgrimage. So God has been extra kind to them. Not these views are unjustified. For all set and done, what has happened is a disaster. An accident is not due to some curse or unkind attitude of God. Infact God will be more caring towards those who left their lives and the calculations of their rebirth and such subtle things would be taken care. But just because someone cancelled their yaatra, it doesn't mean that God has shown some special care towards them.   

We read in scriptures that pralayaa took place and thousands of people lost their lives. This is no imagination. This is the impression we get through these happenings.

Human race is so indifferent towards nature. But even if nature retorts in a small way we are unable to bear it. Himalayan range is a virgin land where landslides are very common. It is important to handle them properly and should show more reverence towards nature. This is the lesson people should learn from this disaster

 இந்த தேசம் சமயம் மற்றும் கலாச்சார சிதைவுகளைக் கண்டு வருகிறது. மனிதகுலத்திற்கெதிராகவும் மகளிருக்கெதிராகவும் பல சம்பவங்கள் நடக்கின்றன. விளைநிலங்கள் சீரழிக்கப்படுகின்றன. இந்தச் சூழலில் நானோ பிற நல்ல ஆத்மாக்களோ தேசத்தின் நலனுக்காக எப்படி உழைப்பது?

இந்த சமூகத்தில் பல்வேறு சம்பவங்கள்,பல்வேறு காரணங்களால் நிகழ்கின்றன. சமயத்தையும் கலாச்சாரத்தையும் தவறாகப் புரிந்து கொண்டவர்கள் அவற்றின் அடிப்படைகள் புரியாமல் அவற்றை சிதைக்கும் முயற்சிகளில் இறங்குகிறார்கள்.அதேபோல பெண்களுக்கெதிரான குற்றங்கள், இன்று வளர்ச்சி என்று கருதப்படும் நவீனயுகத் தீமைகளால் மட்டுமின்றி தமோகுணத்தாலும் நிகழ்கின்றன. விளைநிலங்களின் சீர்குலைவு, மக்களின் சுயநலப்போக்கால் நிகழ்வது. அறியாமையாலும் வாழ்வு குறித்த தெளிவின்மையாலும் இப்படி எத்தனையோ வேண்டாத சம்பவங்கள் சமூகத்தில் நடைபெற்றுக் கொண்டேயிருக்கின்றன.

 

தர்மங்கள் பரிந்துரைத்த வண்ணம் சரியானவற்றையே செய்து, எளிமையான வாழ்வை வாழ்வது இன்று பலருக்கும் சாத்தியமேயில்லாத விஷயமாகிவிட்டது. இந்த கலாச்சாரத்திலும் சமூகத்திலும் இருந்த பல அற்புதமான அம்சங்கள் உருக்குலைந்து போகின்றன. பலருக்கும் அவர்களின் முதன்மையான காதல் பணத்தின்மீதுதான் என்றாகிவிட்டது. செல்வம் சேர்ப்பதற்கே வாழ்வில் முதலிடம் என்கிற நிலை தோன்றி விட்டது. இந்தப் பணத்தை சேர்ப்பதற்காக குழந்தைப்பருவத்திலிருந்தே சுயநல உணர்வும் ஊட்டி வளர்க்கப்பட்டு வருகிறது.

 

அறிவை வளர்க்க வேண்டிய கல்வி கேம்பஸ் இண்டர்வியூவில் முதலிடம் பெறுவதற்கான வழிவகையாகிவிட்டது.இது போன்ற எத்தனையோ முரண்களால் இளைய  தலைமுறை  குழப்பத்தில் ஆழ்ந்திருக்கிறது. 

 

அதேநேரம் இப்படியொரு மாயையில் இருக்கிற மனிதர்கள் அந்த  மாயையிலிருந்து  மீண்டு வரவும் காலம் தரப்பட வேண்டும்.பணம் என்பது நிஜம்தான். ஆனால் பணம் ஒன்றே மகிழ்ச்சியையும் அமைதியையும்  தருமென்று  யாரேனும்  கருதினால் அது  மாயை. ஆதிகாலங்களிலிருந்தே இந்த உலகம்  விதம்விதமான  தீமைகளைக்  கண்டு  வந்திருக்கிறது. அந்தத் தீமைக்கெல்லாம் அசுரர்கள் என்றொரு வடிவம் தரப்பட்டது.

 

விஷயம் என்னவென்றால் அப்போதெல்லாம் அசுரர்கள் வாழ அசுரலோகம் என்றோர் இடம் தனியாக இருந்தது. இப்போது அவர்கள் எங்குமிருக்கிறார்கள்,தனியாக அடையாளம்  காண முடியாத அளவு எல்லோருடனும் கலந்திருக்கிறார்கள். தீய விஷயங்களால் சமூகத்தில் ஒருபோதும் அமைதியைத் தர முடியாது. எனவே அது  நீண்டகாலம்  நீடிக்க  முடியாது . ஆனாலும் தன்னை வெளிப்படுத்திக் கொள்கிற ஆற்றலை அது பெற்றுள்ளது.ஒரு மனிதன் எவ்வளவுதான் தீயவனாக இருந்தாலும்,அவனும் தேடுவது நிம்மதியைத்தான்.அவனுடைய உச்சத்தேடல் அதுதான்.அவன் தேடுகிற முறைகள்  வேண்டுமானால் தவறாக இருக்கலாம்.

 

எனவே,ஒருவகையில் சந்தொஷமும் அமைதியும்தான்  எல்லோருக்குமான விருப்பமாய் இருக்கிறது என்பதால் நீங்கள் அது குறித்து அதிகம் கவலைப்படத் தேவையில்லை.புறச்சூழல் எவ்வளவு மோசமாக    இருந்தாலும், நன்மை  தருகிற  காரியங்கள்  நடந்துகொண்டேயிருக்க  வேண்டும்.பரிவு,சேவை,தன்னலமில்லாத உதவி போன்றவற்றுக்கு சமூகத்தில் எப்போதும் இடமிருக்க வேண்டும்.அதர்மத்தின் பாதையில் செல்பவர்கள் சக்தி மிக்கவர்களாகத் தோற்றமளிக்கிறார்கள். உண்மையில் தர்மத்தின் பாதையில் செல்பவர்கள் அவர்களை விட ஆயிரம்  மடங்கு  சக்தி  வாய்ந்தவர்கள்.  ஏனெனில் தர்மம்,அமைதி,நற்பண்புகள் போன்றவையே ஆற்றலுக்கும்  சக்திக்குமான ஊற்றுக்கண்கள்.

GOOD PEOPLE IN A BAD WORLD

How do I or the other good aathmas in the society work for the welfare of our country which is facing culural, religious demolition, anti humanity activities, harrasment of woman, afforestation of fertile lands and so many?

Dear Venkatraman.
There are so many things happening in this country due to so many reasons. Cultural and religious demolitions are happening due to misinterpretation about religion and culture. They have got the basics wrong. Similarly harassment of women happens not only due to modern evils which have arisen with all the so called developments but also due to tamasic trend.

Afforestation of forest lands happen due to the selfish attitude of people. There are many more unwanted happenings which are due to ignorance and lack of clarity towards life.

 

Today many find it hard to stick with right activity, as prescribed by dharma and lead a simple life. The beauty of this culture and society are changing for bad. For many people, money is their first love. Wealth has become the top priority. So as to accumulate wealth, selfish attitude is fed into everyone right from childhood.

Studies are meant to impart knowledge but now they are seen as means to equip for campus interview. These trends are so confusing and the present generation is by and large mislead.

At the same time, though people are in illusion they have their own transition time. Money is real. But if someone thinks money alone can give peace and happiness, this thought is an illusion. The world has witnessed adharma in many forms right from the beginning and the physical form given to evilness was known as Asura.

But those days Asuras had a separate place to exist which was known as Asuraloka. But today the asuras are everywhere in the society without any distinctive identity. Negativity can never give a peaceful solution in the society, so it cannot survive for a long time. Even then it has the power to manifest itself. See, however evil a person is, he is in search of peace and clarity. That is what he ultimately seeks but the ways and formulas are wrong.

So you need not worry as peace and harmony are the real priorities for everyone. However worse the external condition is, good things should consistently happen. Service, compassion, selfless help should all find its place in the society. When the people in path of adharma seem to be powerful, peace seekers should be thousand times powerful than them. I am telling this because the thought of dharma, peace and nobility are the greatest sources of power and energy.

So, keep spreading your commitment for peace and compassion. They are infectious!!

REINCARNATION AND REBIRTH

Dear Balarishi,

     You have told about your earlier birth memories. What is the difference between rebirth and reincarnation?

     When God descends on this earth, it is known as avathar. When an enlightened being comes again to this world, it is reincarnation. When a soul comes back due to the karmic plan, it is rebirth. Avathar and reincarnation happens with a sankalpa and a purpose. But rebirth is out of compulsion of the karmic arithmetic.

     Normally it is said that a child will have traces of previous life memories till it is one to one and a half years old. Later on those memories fade away and few vague strokes of resemblance flashes rarely.

     Re incarnation is mostly to continue the same path or spiritual work in more or less same situation. The association of the mission continues as though it is well planned. For me my affiliation and closeness to forests and chanting are very much connected with earlier life time. Even now whenever I read vedic chants for the first time they seem to be so familiar.

      As in Hinduism, Buddhism also has strong roots with reincarnation theory and many Buddhist monks reincarnate as per their own specifications given in preceding life time.

உங்களின் முந்தைய பிறவி குறித்து நீங்கள் சொல்லியுள்ளீர்கள். ஞானிகள்  மீண்டும் மண்ணுக்கு வருவதற்கும் மனிதர்களின் மறுபிறவிக்கும் வேறுபாடு உண்டா?

கடவுளர்கள் உலகுக்கு வருவது அவதாரம் எனப்படும். ஞானிகள் குறிப்பிட்ட காரணங்களுக்காகவும் சங்கல்பங்களுக்காகவும் மீண்டும் பூமிக்கு வருகிறார்கள். மனிதர்களோ தங்கள் கர்ம நிர்ப்பந்தங்கள் காரணமாக பல பிறவிகள் எடுக்கிறார்கள்.

 

பொதுவாக ஒரு குழந்தைக்கு ஒன்று முதல் ஒன்றரை வயது வரை முந்தைய பிறவி நினைவுகள் இருக்கும் என்று சொல்வார்கள்.  அதன்பிறகு மங்கலாக சில பூர்வஜன்ம நினைவுகள் மனிதர்கள் மனங்களில் மின்னலிட்டுப் போகும்.

ஞானிகள் மீண்டும் பிறப்பெடுக்கும்போது ஏறக்குறைய முந்தைய பாதைக்கு பெருமளவு தொடர்புள்ளதாக இருக்கும்.சில  ஆன்மீக சங்கல்பங்களை நிறைவேற்ற நன்கு திட்டமிட்டது போல் பிறப்பிடமும் பிற சூழல்களும் அமையும். என்னைப் பொறுத்தவரை  வனங்களும் மந்திர உச்சாடனங்களும்  என் கடந்த பிறவிகளுடன் நெருங்கிய தொடர்பு கொண்டவை. இன்றளவும் வேத மந்திரங்களை வாசிக்க நேர்ந்தால் அவை எனக்கு மிகவும் பரிச்சயம் மிக்கவையாகத் தோன்றும்.அவை என் கடந்த பிறவிகளில் மிகுந்த தொடர்பு கொண்டவை.

இந்துசமயம் போலவே புத்த சமயத்திலும் ஞானிகள் மீண்டும் மண்ணுக்கு வருவது குறித்து நிரூபிக்கப்பட்ட ஆய்வுகள் நிகழ்ந்துள்ளன.

SPIRITUAL SENSE OF SNAKES - 2

Dear Balarishi,

In last week`s discussion you had said there are few more spiritual attributes of snakes. Can you elaborate on it?

Astrology is one key area where the life map of each and every individual  comes to light. Among the doshas in a person`s birth chart, naaga dosha or raagu dosha are predominant. The planets Raaghu and Kethu are said to be in serpent forms. There are certain remedies to get rid of these doshas, in accordance with the karmic structure of people. This shows that the connection with serpents is something which continues from very many earlier births.

Kundalini energy is symbolised as a snake. In one way there is a snake into each one of us in an energy form. So snakes are connected with human in so many ways.

Apart from all these, if you see the materialistic life and spiritual life of a person one of the main barrier in these areas is fear. Yoga sutra lists out five afflictions (klesas) which are hindrances for human growth and fear is the major challenge among those klesas. Snake is an example of fearless nature. In whichever form there is fear you got to face it and eradicate its roots. Even if a big mass of people have gathered and a single snake is spotted in the crowd, the crowd starts to run away but the snake is fearless. There is a saying in tamil which says even a military force is threatened by the presence of a snake. Fearless nature is one of the key needs for spiritual growth and snakes represent that quality.

Today, killing certain animals are considered as criminal offence and rigid laws are made to prevent this. Snake is deeply connected with our tradition, spirituality and ecology. Out of insecurity and being unaware human beings might do away very rare species of snakes. So killing snakes should also be declared as a criminal offence. This will be of more help rather than just being curious through know about snakes.

கடந்த வாரம் பாம்புகள் பற்றிப் பேசும்போது அவற்றின் ஆன்மீகப் பரிமாணத்திற்கு வேறு சில அம்சங்களும் உண்டென்று சொல்லியிருந்தீர்களே?

மனித வாழ்வின் அடிப்படை அம்சம் ஜாதகத்தில் இருக்கிறது. நாகதோஷம் ராகுதோஷம் போன்றவை அவர்கள் வாழ்வின் போக்கைப் பெரிதும் தீர்மானிக்கின்றன.ராகு கேது ஆகிய கிரகங்கள் நாகவடிவில் இருப்பதாய் சொல்லப்படுகிறது. இந்த தோஷங்களிலிருந்து விடுபட அவரவர் வினைப்பயன்களுக்கேற்ப பரிகாரங்களும் உள்ளன. எனவே நாகங்களுக்கு மனித வாழ்வுடன் உள்ள தொடர்பு பிறவிகள் கடந்த தொடர்பு.

குண்டலினி சக்தி பாம்பு வடிவில் உருவகப்படுத்தப்பட்டிருக்கிறது. எனவே ஒவ்வோர் உயிருக்குள்ளுமே சக்தி வடிவில் ஒரு பாம்பு இருப்பதாகக் கொள்ளலாம். மனிதனுடன் பலவகைகளில் பாம்புகள் நெருங்கிய தொடர்பு கொண்டவை என்பதற்கு இவையெல்லாம் ஆதாரங்கள்.

இவற்றையெல்லாம் விட மனிதனின் உலகியல் வாழ்விலும் ஆன்மீக வாழ்விலும் வளர்ச்சிக்குப் பெரிதும் தடையாக இருக்கிற குணங்களில் ஒன்று அச்சம். யோக சூத்திரத்தில் மனிதனின் உள்நிலை வளர்ச்சியைத் தடுக்கும் ஐந்து கிலேசங்களில் முக்கியமானதாக அச்சம் குறிப்பிடப்பட்டுள்ளது. பாம்பு அச்சமற்ற தன்மைக்கோர் அடையாளம். ஒரு பெரிய ஜனத்திரளில் பாம்பு புகுந்தால் அந்தக்  கூட்டமே சிதறியோடுமே தவிர பாம்பு பயந்து ஓடாது. பாம்பென்றால்  படையும்  நடுங்கும் என்பது  பழமொழி. அச்சமின்மை ஆன்மீக வளர்ச்சிக்கான ஆதாரங்களில் ஒன்று. அச்சம் எந்த விதத்தில் தோன்றினாலும் அவற்றின் வேர்களை அறிந்து அகற்றுவதே ஆன்மீக வளர்ச்சிக்கு கைகொடுக்கும்.

இன்று குறிப்பிட்ட சில விலங்குகளைக் கொல்வது பெரும் 

குற்றமாகக் கருதப்படுகிறது. நம் ஆன்மீக மரபுடன் பல விதங்களில்

தொடர்பு கொண்டிருக்கும் பாம்புகளைக் கொல்வதும் பெரும் குற்றமாகக் கருதப்பட வேண்டும். இல்லையென்றால் மனிதன் தன் அச்சவுணர்வு காரணமாகவும் விழிப்புணர்வின்மை காரணமாகவும்  அரியவகை பாம்புகளை அழித்துவிடும் அபாயம் இருக்கிறது. எனவே  பாம்புகளைப்  பற்றி வெறுமனே தகவல்களைத் திரட்டுவதில் ஆர்வம் காட்டுவதை விட இத்தகைய நடவடிக்கைகளில் ஈடுபட வேண்டும்.
